Medical Uses

Internal Uses: Used to dilate blood vessels and stimulate the circulatory system to treat GI ailments and to relieve or reduce fever   Sore Throat,
Topical Uses: Boils, Conjunctivitis, Itchy Skin,  Wounds

The antibacterial properties of the alkaloid berbarine have shown activity against Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, Salmonella, Shigella and Escherichia Coli.  It has antimicrobial properties that are especially beneficial for the skin and intestinal tract.  It helps to dilate blood vessels and thus lower blood pressure.
